TYRONE, GA – Today, Congressman Brian Jack (GA-03) reopened the Tyrone Post Office, keeping a promise he made to Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District.

Congressman Brian Jack said, “Before I was sworn into Congress, I promised to reopen the Tyrone Post Office, which had previously suffered extensive structural damage due to a fire.  As of today, the Tyrone Post Office is fully open for business.  During a Congressional oversight hearing, I asked the Postmaster General to accelerate the Post Office’s reconstruction, which had been delayed for years.  He and his team swiftly reacted, and worked closely with my office to achieve this goal.  Thank you to Tyrone Mayor Eric Dial and the Tyrone Town Council for your partnership and forceful advocacy, and thank you to Postmaster General David Steiner and Kayla Dufrene of the Postal Service for your leadership on this important project.”

Built in 1983, the Tyrone Post Office suffered extensive structural damage from a fire that burned through the building in March 2023.  During its reconstruction, multiple building inspections were required, delaying its completion.  As a result, Tyrone residents were forced to drive to other cities to use a post office.

During a high-profile Congressional hearing earlier this year, Congressman Jack expressed the frustration of his constituents and publicly called on the Postmaster General of the United States, David Steiner, to accelerate the reconstruction of the Tyrone Post Office.

The Postmaster General swiftly reacted to Congressman Jack’s call for action, and — as of today — the Tyrone Post Office is fully open for business.

Tyrone Mayor Eric Dial credited Congressman Jack's involvement as the catalyst in reopening the Tyrone Post Office, “While we had gloomy weather in Tyrone, it was bright and sunny inside our Post Office.  I am grateful to Congressman Jack for getting this project over the finish line.”

Beginning today, retail operations have been fully restored at the Tyrone Post Office, including mailing, business, and financial services.  Customers who previously rented a P.O. Box are able to rent the same box, with their original key.  Replacement keys are available for purchase.
