Rep. Brian Jack helps lead repeal of Biden regulation banning tankless water heaters
The bipartisan vote in the House of Representatives was 221-198. 210 Republicans and 11 Democrats voted for the legislation, introduced by Rep. Gary Palmer, (R-Ala.) and heavily promoted by Rep. Jack.
Palmer and Jack used the authority given to Congress under the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to repeal this regulation. The CRA enables Congress to disapprove of any rule or regulation announced by the Executive Branch within 60 legislative days. The Biden-Harris Administration imposed this regulation on Dec. 26, 2024.
“The regulation was announced the day after Christmas, during the midnight hours of Joe Biden’s presidency, putting the livelihoods of hundreds of my constituents in peril during the holiday season,” Jack said in a news release. “With today’s bipartisan vote, we will save hundreds of manufacturing jobs in the great State of Georgia.”
Jack represents Georgia’s 3rd District, which includes Spalding County.
Jack repeatedly advocated for the legislation, delivering remarks in two Rules Committee hearings and a Small Business Committee hearing, on the House Floor during debate on Feb. 25, and finally delivering the closing remarks for Republicans on the House Floor immediately prior to the legislation’s passage.
“On behalf of my constituents, I am proud to have led the effort to pass this critical legislation, which repeals the Biden-Harris Administration’s job-killing regulation imposed on the specific water heaters manufactured in our Congressional District,” said Jack.
Rinnai America Corporation is headquartered in Peachtree City, and in 2022, it opened its manufacturing facility in Griffin, where it produces non-condensing tankless water heaters.
“On behalf of everyone at Rinnai America, I want to extend our deepest gratitude to Congressman Brian Jack for his unwavering support in advancing the Congressional Review Act resolution through the House. His leadership in standing up for American manufacturing, protecting jobs, and ensuring that consumers are not burdened with unnecessary costs is a testament to his commitment to the people of our great state of Georgia,” said Frank Windsor, President of Rinnai America Corporation, in Jack’s news release.
“Thanks to his efforts, we are one step closer to preserving the choices and energy-efficient products that American families deserve, while safeguarding hundreds of jobs here at Rinnai America Corporation. We look forward to continuing to work together to uphold the values of innovation, efficiency and American-made excellence.”
